A few years ago a group of Trek fans started an adventure of their own. They wanted to complete the five year mission of the original Star Trek television series. Coming together in a true show of dedication and friendship they banded together to build sets, find costumes and gather talented actors wanting to donate their time and talents to the project. Some even donated from their own pockets to make this dream a reality. They were not out to make money with the production and fill their own pockets. In fact, they even became a registered Non-Profit Organization!
These talented and inspired fans of the Original Roddenberry produced show are a testament to an iconic and futuristic show which held ground breaking ideals for it’s day and age which still hold true today. Ideals such as unification and working together towards a common goal for the good of all mankind. Wow! That’s a big one and they definitely personify this in their tireless dedication to every minor detail.
The original series continues on today in other Trek series and movies. The original message that Roddenberry had in his series still sparks scientific minds all over the world. Scientists globally work on projects which recreate inventions and ideas from this show, making them a reality: hand held communicators, warp drive propulsion, phasers, star ships, time travel, space travel, colonies on other planets. All of these things are in production today in different corners of the globe. WHY? They are high tech scientific fans creating products based on Trek, just like our Star Trek Continues Cast and Crew.
With six shows already produced and available for FREE viewing at www.startrekcontinues.com the cast and crew have proved six times over that they will do exactly what they set out to do each and every time. They meticulously rebuilt the working bridge and engineering. They recreated costumes. They found talents, new and old, even ones who were in the original series in the 70’s, to donate time and talent to the six shows they have already produced. Other fan productions can NOT say the same. The men and women of the Star Trek Continues show are nothing if not reliable and true to their word. They have already proved this to the world six times over. In this day and age how many people can we say the same of?
They are giving fans everywhere a way to enjoy what they lack, closure and new adventures in the Original Trekverse. How many of you had to do a writing assignment in school and might have based it on a Trek episode? How many of you entered into the performing arts and might of done impressions of or taken a few pointers from the cast and crew of the Starship Enterprise? How many scientists, physicists, NASA personnel or government officials are there out there who entered your field due in part to watching Trek, living those adventures, hardships, friendships and ideals and seeing those amazing inventions in use right along side of Captain James Tiberius Kirk and his crew? Fess up! You just KNOW it’s a lot of you! Even our own Phoenix wrote a very lengthy Star Trek story of her own for English Lit class and got an A. How many of you out there can 100% tell us honestly that you wouldn’t do everything in your power to answer a distress call from the NCC-1701? If Kirk, Uhura, Spock, Bones, Chekov or Sulu caught you on with a distress call…..you WOULD answer that call, wouldn’t you?! Well, they need your help ensigns, captains, science officers and communications officers, navigators and engineering! Just one dollar from each of you would help them reach their goal and beyond. They are willing to make more episodes for all of us enjoy FREE, to finish a dream that started so long ago. We can come together as the United Federation of Trekkie’s and donate a little bit or if you can give more, that’s great too. Whatever you can. Because just look at the great offerings like T-shirts, posters and packages that you can get in donating too.
